Professional Cleaning

Oral health is important not just to let you enjoy your favourite foods and drinks for decades without discomfort but also for overall good health. Gum diseases and tooth disorders can lead to other complicated ailments if they are not treated on time. Poor oral hygiene has been linked to diabetes, cancer and heart disease. Looking after your gums and teeth is a lifelong commitment that doesn’t get easier as you age and get more susceptible to decay, tooth loss, tooth discolouration, as well as tartar and plaque build-up.

Professional cleaning at Slipacoff Dental Centre keeps your oral health in the best condition. Small issues lead to bigger disorders in the long run. Routine cleaning keeps gum diseases, tartar, cavities and enamel wear at bay, keeping you free from painful conditions like root canals, tooth fractures and periodontitis.

Our dental cleaning procedure lasts between 30 minutes to an hour. It begins with a thorough evaluation of your health history, inspection of your teeth and gums, discussion about your oral hygiene habits and then proceeds with routine cleaning to remove plaque and tartar build-up with a scaler. To minimize scraping, it is important to brush and floss twice a day after meals using a fluoride toothpaste. Every crevice, nook and corner between your teeth will be scrubbed clean until they appear sparkling clean.

Your teeth will be flossed to get all the gunk off, followed by mouth rinsing with a liquid fluoride solution. This will be followed by a gel-based fluoride treatment to keep cavities away and an application of a sticky paste on your teeth before the final deep cleaning to remove all bacteria. You may require two visits for upper and lower teeth and a dental X-ray before the treatment for proper inspection. Call us for the next appointment and enjoy healthy, trouble-free teeth for decades more to come.

Professional dental cleaning is the basis of ongoing dental health. Our dental hygienists offer regular cleanings for you and your family in a relaxed environment. Allow us to show you how comfortable and gentle teeth cleaning can be.

Regular Checkups & Complete Dental Examinations
Regular dental check-ups and complete examinations are an important part of maintaining your oral health. We make sure all of our patients receive thorough dental examinations on a regular basis. We can often catch potential problems before physical symptoms arise, reducing both the cost and the pain of future problems.
Bridges
A dental bridge is used to “bridge the gap” left by a missing tooth and is secured in place by attaching it to the surrounding teeth. We can help you understand your options so that you can make the best decision for your dental well-being.

Composite Fillings, Inlays & Onlays
We offer a number of natural-looking ways to keep your smile looking great. Porcelain based fillings are growing in popularity because they offer patients a durable, beautiful and plaque-resistant alternative to the traditional silver fillings. Inlays and Onlays are used to repair decay on the surface of the tooth and match the existing colour. We evaluate your individual situation to determine the best treatment for the long-term health of your teeth.

Mouth Guards – Night & Athletic
Night and Athletic Mouth Guards are custom fitted to your mouth so they’re so comfortable you won’t even notice you’re wearing it. Whether you grind your teeth or want to avoid facial injuries while playing sports, the minimal investment in a guard could save you thousands in dental treatments down the road.
Dental Bonding
Dental bonding can be performed to match or enhance the look of your teeth by changing their colour, shape, angle or spacing. Dental Bonding is quick, painless and in most cases, more than one tooth can be bonded in a single visit.
Root Canal Procedures & Therapy
When a tooth has deep cavities or cracks, it creates a channel for bacteria to enter where it can infect the pulp on the inside of the tooth. Root Canal Therapy is the process of removing the infection from an abscessed tooth and then placing a porcelain inlay, onlay or crown to strengthen it. Although the process may sound painful, our staff provides gentle care in a relaxed environment.

Wisdom Teeth
When wisdom teeth become impacted or begin to crowd nearby teeth, they can cause pain and discomfort, which can be relieved when they are removed. As part of your regular dental exams, X-rays can help offer early detection of future problems. We will help you decide the best course of action for your individual situation.
Nitrous Oxide Sedation
For people who are extremely nervous about dental procedures, nitrous oxide induces a relaxed, pleasurable feeling. If you suffer from dental anxiety, talk to our staff about how sedation dentistry can make your next trip to the dentist more enjoyable.
Gum Disease Treatment & Periodontics
Gum disease is one of the most common diseases afflicting Canadians and can lead to premature loss of teeth and bone loss if not properly treated. Regular dental exams are the best way of ensuring that your gums remain healthy and our staff will work with you to prevent gum disease.

Dental Implants

Dental Implants

Damaging or losing a single tooth can have a traumatic impact on your quality of life. Not having a full set of teeth can negatively impact your general health, appearance, and self-confidence while a full set of teeth improves your overall functionality, and lets you enjoy your food. When even a single tooth is missing, it inhibits your body’s natural process of chewing, and your mandible begins to lose bone and your gums may shrink. Repairing your missing tooth is vital, so neighboring teeth do not begin to shift into the void left behind. Dental implants are a modern solution that will help you smile, eat and socialize with confidence and without discomfort. Using a dental implant to replace the tooth’s root keeps healthy adjacent teeth untouched and provides the stability you need to carry on with your daily routine. A missing tooth can be replaced by a crown which is connected to a dental implant.

Advantages of dental implants include:

  • Healthy and natural-looking smile
  • Restored functionality for eating and speaking
  • Support themselves, so adjacent teeth are left untouched
  • Stable and comfortable fit
  • Chance of immediate functionality from the time of dental implant surgery
  • Durable and easy to maintain

Dental implants typically last several years, and with the right care, up to a lifetime. It requires only your normal effort to keep the area clean and there is very low risk of tooth decay and fracture. There may be a higher initial cost of treatment but lower maintenance costs over time.

Implant Retained Dentures
We use implants to secure your dentures in replacement of denture adhesives which is strong and secure. At Slipacoff Dental Center we have the right solution for you:

Removable implant overdentures – This cost-effective option provides stability where new teeth are attached to two or more dental implants. This will not affect your chew and taste with a variety of food. Your teeth can be removed for cleaning and denture adhesives is no longer needed.

Removable overdentures on an implant bar – For a more secure fit, a dental implant bar is secured to your jaw bone with two or more implants, which provides stronger support for your removable dentures. Your new teeth can be removed for cleaning and denture adhesives is no longer needed.

Fixed implant supported bridges – A more durable option with natural-looking replacement teeth that is secured on four or more dental implants. This solution stimulates bone maintenance, restores chewing function, and maintains taste sensation.
